Volunteer
Are you a resident coral saver?
Volunteers are crucial to our success. Are you a diver on the island? Then this is your call to help us help the reef! Join us on our dives to take care of our corals. Tanks and lunch are provided, and we host regular volunteer BBQs.
Why save corals with us?
Our volunteers are the heart of our coral restoration efforts. Why? Because growing corals, nursery maintenance and outplanting is a time intensive job and requires a lot of resources and caring hands. Luckily, it is also highly rewarding and fun. Like our corals, our network grows fast and healthy. We raise a diverse comunity, that cares about nature. Now is the time for you to help corals with us and people from all over the world.

What does a BRANCH volunteer do?
As volunteer you get insights in our coral gardening restoration approach, and be the first to hear our latest updates. You will participate in building and maintaining nurseries, outplanting corals, BBQs and fundraiser events or other tasks depending on your skillset, our schedule and the needs of our corals. You will surely never get bored of the sight of our coral trees under water.
Requirements
Volunteering to restore coral requires some basic skills while others you will learn on the job.
Diving certificate
The health and safety of our volunteers comes first. A valid diving certificate and good health is the basis for supporting our coral restoration efforts.
Good buoyancy skills
Working with coral trees and nurseries is delicate. In many instances it might be necessary to work underneath or above other divers while still being cautious of the environment around you – Thus buoyancy is a very important skill.
Diving equipment
As we are a non-profit organization our resources and diving equipment are limited. Air is provided for our volunteers and equipment can be rented at our partners for a small fee.

“I love volunteering with BRANCH. The team is welcoming, knowledgeable and truly dedicated to their mission. Seeing how the corals have grown over time—and outplanting them to the reef—was incredibly inspiring.”
Susane Langston | Current Volunteer

“ I love merging science, diving, and conservation, and I am very proud of the hard work of Branch Coral on Curaçao’s reefs! 🙌🏝️”
Macarena Amaya | Dive Master & PhD in Geophysics

“Corals and animals need more and more protection and help. Branch does this on a large effective scale, from education to replanting. I am always happy to help this wonderful foundation and great group of volunteers.”
